Fender Olympic White Wall Paint

My Fender California Series Tele (which proudly bears the lettering MADE IN USA, even thought it's clearly a Mexican made guitar) is finished in Vintage White, but Fender apparently felt the need to use base coats in black & red, for reasons that elude me. And instead of spraying the paint on, they seem to have applied it with a spoon.

The white and black Strats with maple fretboards were used mostly in 1969 and 1970, so the Fender Custom Shop '69 pickups might be a more historically accurate pickup choice for these maple fretboard Strats of Jimi (always an option if desired) but who am I to tell Fender what to include in their guitars? The inside of the control cavity had tape sticking out from under paint, half of the serial number sticker was ripped in half and glued back over top of the other part of the sticker and then painted over.. This creamy white yellow color is a nice choice for your Fender project. Vintage White should be sprayed over a primered body and clear coated. Ohio Valley Nitro offers a full line of nitrocellulose finishes in 16oz. (12oz. fluid) aerosol spray cans. They have designed this product to be used by the first time guitar builder to guitar. The original Olympic White was acrylic paint (Dupont Lucite), not nitro. Fender traditionally did not clear coat Olympic White in order to keep it from yellowing. Too funky looking for $8000.00 in my book. Might be a tough flip down the road . Hanging on a wall for 3 years with no buyers should tell you something. Also, I'm wondering about the white finish. As radically smoke stained, and bar tanned as that neck and headstock look, I'm wondering if that white should be a lot more browned or yellowed looking. 1965 Jaguar, Olympic White with clear coat, pickguard removed. White or parchment would be my top. 7-24-2019 I decided to add this picture of my mod'ed out Strat. It now has dual rail humbuckers, Fender locking tuners, Fender trem bridge w/ full block for more sustain, new guard, strings, 'Tree of Life' decal. For a little bit here and a little bit there I have a Squier Affinity that will play very well.
